For most of business history, execution was the bottleneck.

Writing took time.

Research took time.

Design took time.

Analysis took time.

If you could execute faster and better than your competitors, you won.

That’s changing.

Execution Is Becoming Commoditized

AI has dramatically reduced the cost of doing things.

You can:

  • Analyze data instantly

  • Build presentations quickly

  • Generate ideas on demand

What used to require teams now requires tools.

And when something becomes easy and cheap, it stops being a competitive advantage.

So What Actually Matters Now?

When execution becomes abundant, something else becomes scarce.

And scarcity is where value lives.

Right now, the scarce things are:

  • Strategy: knowing what to focus on

  • Judgment: knowing what’s actually good

  • Taste: knowing what resonates

  • Restraint: knowing what to ignore

AI can generate options.

It cannot decide which ones matter.

The Shift From “How” to “What”

Most people are still focused on:

“How do I use AI better?”
“How do I write better prompts?”
“How do I automate more tasks?”

Those are useful questions.

But they’re not the most important ones.

The real question is:

What should we be doing in the first place?

Because if AI makes execution cheap, then executing the wrong thing becomes very easy.

The Risk: Scaling Bad Decisions Faster

AI doesn’t just speed up good work.

It speeds up all work.

Which means:

  • Weak ideas get produced faster

  • Poor strategies get executed at scale

  • Generic content floods the market

You don’t just make mistakes anymore.

You multiply them.

Brand and Trust Become the Filter

When everything is easy to produce, people need a way to filter what matters.

That’s where brand and trust come in.

Customers aren’t just asking:

“Is this good?”

They’re asking:

“Do I trust the source?”

In a world of infinite output, credibility becomes currency.

What This Means for Business Owners

If you’re running a business right now, your role is shifting.

Less:

  • Doing

  • Writing

  • Building first drafts

More:

  • Deciding

  • Prioritizing

  • Editing

  • Saying no

Because the most valuable skill isn’t execution anymore.

It’s discernment.

The New Bottleneck

We used to be limited by our ability to produce.

Now we’re limited by our ability to choose.

Which idea is worth pursuing?

Which message actually resonates?

Which opportunity matters most?

AI won’t answer those for you.

And that’s exactly why they’re valuable.

AI is making execution cheap, but that doesn’t mean business is getting easier.

It just means the game is changing.

The winners won’t be the ones who can do more.

They’ll be the ones who can:

  • Focus better

  • Decide faster

  • Ignore what doesn’t matter

Because in a world where everyone can execute, the real advantage is knowing what not to do.

The AI IP landscape is a chaotic, unregulated mess where everyone’s borrowing from everyone, making it just as easy to lose a great idea as it is to build one.
